Honor Magic 9 Pro Max launches with ARRI imaging and dual 200 MP cameras
The Magic 9 Pro Max pairs ARRI image science with 4K 60fps recording, a directional microphone and an 8,800 mAh battery, priced at approximately $970 in China.

Honor has launched the Magic 9 Pro Max in China, putting its camera partnership with cinema equipment maker ARRI at the centre of the phone. The September 28 launch brings two 200 MP rear cameras, ARRI-assisted video features and an 8,800 mAh silicon-carbon battery, with a reported price of approximately $970 USD.
Cameras
ARRI contributed image science and camera expertise to the Magic 9 Pro Max, with the collaboration extending into its camera software. The phone includes 14 ARRI filter presets and supports 4K recording at 60fps in a mode described as “Cinema Grade.” It also supports 10-bit color depth and ARRI Wide Gamut 3.
The rear camera system combines a 200 MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and f/1.57 aperture, a 200 MP telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and f/2.6 aperture, and a 50 MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.0 aperture. A 55 MP front camera handles selfies.
The main camera has optical image stabilization rated to the Camera & Imaging Products Association's CIPA 8.0 standard. It also features 3-degree gimbal-level stabilization, allowing the camera to move and tilt by up to three degrees.
Audio capture is another part of the imaging package. Honor claims this is the first smartphone with a “cinema-grade” directional microphone. According to the company, it can pick up sound from up to 20 meters away. Audio recording presets are designed to help capture selected sounds while reducing surrounding noise.
Design & display
The rear camera assembly is a prominent part of the design, with its lenses extending across the width of the phone. The Magic 9 Pro Max has a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1–120Hz refresh rate and 2,000 nits peak brightness.
Performance
The phone uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. Memory configurations reach up to 16 GB of RAM, while storage goes up to 1 TB.
Battery
Honor equips the Magic 9 Pro Max with an 8,800 mAh silicon-carbon battery.
Software
The Magic 9 Pro Max runs MagicOS 11, based on Android 17.
Price & availability
The China launch price is approximately $970 USD. Honor devices are not officially sold in the United States, so U.S. buyers seeking this model would need to use third-party sellers and import it.
